Hong Kong Used Cars- a Practical Guide

Although many expats spend years without one, owning one of the many Hong Kong used cars will give you access to hard to access areas, as well as the convenience of your own transport when required.

In Hong Kong cars for sale are to be found in many locations the average expat wouldn’t expect. You won’t find acres of open air lots with used cars scattered about, as open space like this is at a premium in Hong Kong. Where you will find used car dealers is in the basements of building car parks or occupying part, or all of a level of a multi-story car park. These car lots may be a single used car dealership, or many smaller dealers sharing the space.

All makes of cars are available, with some models possibly differing from your home country. The most common vehicles on Hong Kong roads would be BMW, Mercedes and Toyota. Most of these vehicles can be found, as used cars, for reasonable prices, although not many dealers offer any kind of warranty.

One thing many expats find confronting when dealing with local used car salesmen, is that many of them who are not used to dealing with us will require you to negotiate and decide on a price for the car before you test drive it. This is standard practice for many used car dealers here as to them it shows that you are serious about buying the car. Of course it should be understood that you are free to change your mind or renegotiate should the used car’s test drive not be up to expectation.

If you’re thinking of buying a used car in Hong Kong you must have somewhere to park it. May sound obvious but many apartments will not have a parking space included, or even available. There is a healthy market for car parking spaces as many people who are not using theirs often lease or sell it.

Of course, the best way to begin a search for a used car is online, and ExpatFlats has the best system in Hong Kong for finding what you want. We also offer free listings so owners and dealers will easily locate buyers for their vehicles using our website. Take a test drive of our Hong Kong used cars section, or click through to www.ExpatFlats.com and click on Drive. Happy motoring!

That depends on year/make/model/mileage/condition. Most public auctions for vehicles are not retail quality. The primary source of buyers for these auctions are people that know enough about cars to perform whatever maintenance that is required to get them to run. Is isn't unheard of to buy a car for $200 or less. But the old saying is true "you get what you pay for." So don't expect to buy a creme puff. What you buy probably wont even pass emissions tests. Be prepared to spend at least an additional $500 to make it legal.

sure it is

whats your email ill send you some pics faggot

cls is completely stock

Between March and May as your father said, due to tax season, warmer weather, and high school kids getting anxious to own some wheels. :D

just buy and sell just those 3 cars. and if business is good for you youll have money for your own license.

The fees would be more than the car is worth.

Just post it on craigslist.

thats my evo sickkkkk!!!!!

not sure but i know new hampshire has no sales tax even on cars, which tend to be pretty big sales so no tax is awesome!

as the above poster said, most banks send their cars to auction, you might want to try credit unions in your area, good luck

Yeah….. lol…. blowin em’ off all the way…lol

supra wins..

I think its possible to get another, and getting it stamped back up again should be no problem either, as the servicing dealer will have your car on its computer system, detailng everytime its been serviced and so on.

I dont know whether it will affect the resale value, as the original book would have bar codes and info inside the front cover etc and i`m unsure if a replacement book would have the same stuff:

Bar code & info stickers come with the car from the manufacturer upon delivery you see, and are then stuck inside the cover of this book by the dealer.

355 Nice burnout !

Nice selection of cars. I collect Camaros, currently my most expensive one is $14. Hopefully down the road though I'll own a much more expensive one. I look at the classifieds alot and there are some sites worth checking into.
