Buying a car whether it is brand spanking new or usesd car is exciting, but no matter what sort of method you use; buying on the lot, through the paper or online, you’ll still have to keep your car in A1 condition to get the best out of it. Polluted and dirty engine oil, transmission fluid, and anti-freeze are going to cause problems for your car, and if you have not thought about changing your brake fluid, then perhaps, it is time. Brake fluid delivers force to various parts of the brake when you step on the pedal, you know it has to be topped up, but how often does it have to be changed?

Brake safety is a subject that I have touched on before in an earlier article and I wonder how many times you think of changing the many fluids in your car. One of the paramount considerations that you must make as a responsible owner of a car, is the constant maintenance and servicing. Whether your car is old or new an expert to service and maintain your vehicle is necessary. Two sites that I have logged into online with many tips and hints are repcoservice.com and OzFreeOnline.com. If you want to know anything about your vehicle then these sites are particularly savvy about all models and makes of vehicle. You will be glad you did, because the information you will find will be invaluable.

According to specialist mechanics, brake fluid, in the everyday family cars, becomes contaminated in less than two years. Brake fluid absorbs moisture, which works its way through the hydraulic system. Under heavy braking conditions, such as when towing a trailer, driving in a very hilly or mountainous area, the moisture in the overheated fluid vaporizes (boiling point of water is lower than that of brake fluid) and braking efficiency is reduced.

Not only is the fluid vulnerable to vaporizing, it also can freeze. Even under normal automobile driving conditions, this situation can develop if the brake fluid is seriously contaminated. It is necessary for brake fluid to maintain a stable viscosity throughout its operating temperature range. Being too thick or too thin causes impaired braking action. Beyond the vaporization hazard, moisture creates an additional problem for owners of vehicles equipped with anti-lock braking (ABS) systems. Corroded ABS components are very expensive to replace.

Obviously, anything to do with your brakes is extremely important to your family’s safety. If you are still driving a motor vehicle that is over ten years of age, then it is even more important to be sure that your car is in perfect working order. Cars can last a very long time provided you, as the owner, have a thorough understanding of the maintenance of your type of vehicle. There is no excuse for ignorance and sites like racv.com.au, and OzFreeOnline.com have useful pages of information and news about the care of your car and any vehicle on the road today. When you are next ‘surfing the net’, do yourself a favour and log on, join up and browse all the pages of hints.

Maintaining proper brake fluid levels in your master cylinder reservoir is no exception. You should have your brake fluid checked every time you have your oil changed. During a brake inspection, your mechanic will check your brake fluid levels as well as make sure your shoes. or pads, drums, rotors, wheel bearings, anti-lock brakes (ABS) and emergency brake system are all in good, safe working order. How often does the brake fluid have to be changed? Good question – the recommended change is either every two years, or 24,000 kilometres.

Your professional brake technician should check the condition of the fluid with an accurate ‘fluid test safety metre’, which is inserted into the master cylinder reservoir to record the fluids boiling point. This should be included with brake pad or shoe replacement, and in between, as a preventive measure.

You may ask about the many other fluids, which, must be topped up, as well as changed, and you will find them as you read on. Oil changes are important. Your mechanic is an oil change and lube expert. There are synthetic oils available, to better protect your engine and enhance your car’s performance, not to mention synthetic oil is resistant to heat and viscosity breakdown. You can find information like this, and many other interesting facts when you log on to firstnlastchoice.yodelaustralia.com, where they do brakes, clutches and even air-conditioning. Another fantastic site I have browsed to find used cars for sale, auto classifieds and assistance with anything relating to cars is OzFreeOnline.com. You can even join the forum to find out more from other people on the same wave-length

Recommended oil changes to keep your car running at peak performance, is every 3 months or 3,000 kilometres. One of the most common mistakes you can make with your car is to let things slide when it comes to something as simple as an oil change. Properly scheduled oil changes will help your car last for many years.

With the current state of the economy, and the price drops in gas, it is not a wonder that you can find a cheap car for sale these days. There are many big motor vehicle companies such as GM are losing profits and are forced to produce a quality car at a low price. Car prices have dropped significantly since the recession and now it is time to cash in. There are many hidden spots that many people do not think about when purchasing a car. You may think that saving 15-20% on a car is considered a great deal; however there are cheap used cars at high quality can be found in places that many people do not think to even look when beginning their search.

A place that almost nobody thinks about for cheap used cars is a government seized vehicle auction. Every month across the country there are 1000s of cars seized by the government. The government would like to get rid of these cars for cheap and sold quickly! With the economy in the recession, in these auctions the car prices have gone down significantly and you can definitely find a cheap high end car for almost 50% off the original price. Bids can start at 100 dollars and work its way up.

Although we are in a recession, now is the time to purchase a car just because the prices will never be as low as they are now. For cheap auctioned government cars you may visit <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” rel=”external nofollow” target=”_blank” href=”http://tinyurl.com/cheapusedgovtcars”>Cheap Used Government Auctioned Cars </a>

Although many expats spend years without one, owning one of the many Hong Kong used cars will give you access to hard to access areas, as well as the convenience of your own transport when required.

In Hong Kong cars for sale are to be found in many locations the average expat wouldn’t expect. You won’t find acres of open air lots with used cars scattered about, as open space like this is at a premium in Hong Kong. Where you will find used car dealers is in the basements of building car parks or occupying part, or all of a level of a multi-story car park. These car lots may be a single used car dealership, or many smaller dealers sharing the space.

All makes of cars are available, with some models possibly differing from your home country. The most common vehicles on Hong Kong roads would be BMW, Mercedes and Toyota. Most of these vehicles can be found, as used cars, for reasonable prices, although not many dealers offer any kind of warranty.

One thing many expats find confronting when dealing with local used car salesmen, is that many of them who are not used to dealing with us will require you to negotiate and decide on a price for the car before you test drive it. This is standard practice for many used car dealers here as to them it shows that you are serious about buying the car. Of course it should be understood that you are free to change your mind or renegotiate should the used car’s test drive not be up to expectation.

If you’re thinking of buying a used car in Hong Kong you must have somewhere to park it. May sound obvious but many apartments will not have a parking space included, or even available. There is a healthy market for car parking spaces as many people who are not using theirs often lease or sell it.

Of course, the best way to begin a search for a used car is online, and ExpatFlats has the best system in Hong Kong for finding what you want. We also offer free listings so owners and dealers will easily locate buyers for their vehicles using our website. Take a test drive of our Hong Kong used cars section, or click through to www.ExpatFlats.com and click on Drive. Happy motoring!

It is a cold Melbourne morning. Your feet are freezing, your scarf is so tight you feel as though you are strangling yourself and your fingers will not work because they are blue and cold. You slide into the front seat behind the wheel and turn the key. Nothing happens. Well it is winter! Now what do you do? Call the car repair shop? Buy a new, better car? Or you can do few simple things to prevent this happening.<br />

Starting a car with a cold engine is easier said than done, and there are times it can be a real frustration particularly if you live in the hills or areas that get exceptionally cold. Getting late for work, missing deadlines, not being able to drive the kids to school: these are just some of the things that happen when your car refuses to start due to cold engine. How to avoid this from happening?

Cold weather will come; that’s for sure and inevitable. The trick is to not let cold engines stop you from driving your car without hassles.

Firstly, because cold weather affects liquid evaporation. When it is cold, petrol evaporates less, making it more difficult to burn. By the time petrol burns sufficiently, it is already too burnt for the car to use properly.

Secondly, a cold engine might have problems in starting because oil happens to get thicker in cold weather. Oil, just like any liquid, changes consistency when exposed to very low temperatures. The oil then may not properly circulate in the car engine.

But oil is not the only problem, as car batteries are affected too by cold weather. Since batteries function through chemical reactions, cold weather can severely hamper those necessary chemical reactions, making it hard for you to start your car. You end up starting the engine futilely as the batteries struggle to spark a chemical reaction.

When these three difficulties occur at once, then it becomes clear that you really won’t be able to start your car anymore. What to do then?

Spray ether into the engine to help evaporate the petrol quickly and help your engine to start. Opt for thin synthetic oil which has better resistance from coagulating in the cold. Also, park your vehicle inside a garage where it’s warm and sheltered. Leaving it out in the cold is a sure-fire way to deaden your engine. Never miss a family or business apointment again!

Then again, if you really hate your car and it seems to be causing you more headaches than you need, why not search OzFreeOnline.com. Search through thousands of cars for sale and post an ad for your car on the market with the private listings service. To list your vehicle quickly and easily, register as an individual – it’s free to join.

GM is having a “fire sale” and selling off all remaining Pontiac and Saturn cars. Also, what’s happening with Saab, GM has no updates on the deal with Spyker, that is supposedly still in the works.
It really depends on the person reading the review about used Japanese cars whether he should believe what is said about them. Reviews come in two major categories: either the review about Japanese used cars (and perhaps the preferred Japanese used car exporter of the reviewer) was made by someone knowledgeable about what to look for in a Japanese used car for sale, or the review is simply a comment from someone who does not know much about Japanese used cars. So, like opinions expressed by people in any industry, you should always take the content of reviews with a grain of salt (meaning, be cautious and skeptical until the review has been proven correct.)

Some people may create reviews about the inner workings of engines of the Japanese used cars, with emphasis on cars made by a particular manufacturer. For example, if you know quite a lot about the engines of Toyota models from years past to consider yourself an authority on the subject, then you might be able to create a legitimate and credible review about what people should look for in engines of Toyota-branded used Japanese cars. You could then expand your scope to comparing how engines from one car manufacturer rate against the performance of engines from other car manufacturers. Other reviewers might choose to focus their opinions about the external design of used Japanese cars instead. Using the same manufacturer as our example, perhaps you could make a comparative analysis of why the Toyota model for one year has a much better design than the Toyota models for succeeding years. You could say this Toyota model has a much more streamlined design that reduces drag and fosters fuel efficiency while boosting speed, while others that succeeded it are actually fuel guzzlers due to their inefficient design. In the same manner as an engine reviewer, you could then expand your range of topics to comparing designs from one manufacturer to those made by another manufacturer. These are just some ways reviews could be written though actually the potential for finding great topics to write about are practically unlimited.

Who takes reviews seriously? Why, people who don’t know much about buying Japanese used cars, of course, because they need someone who can guide them through the maze of technical information that will meet them once they start comparing used Japanese cars to choose from. And, there might also be actual experts on Japanese used cars, such as your friendly Japanese used car exporter, who might be interested in what you have to say. Of course, if you say something that departs from conventional knowledge, you will have to be able to defend yourself with facts and examples that would support those facts. Anything said in print is actually quite damning to the author if he is proven to have used incorrect facts deliberately.

So whether you are someone who just reads reviews about some Japanese used car for sale on the Internet, or are actually someone who writes reviews, the rule of thumb to be followed is truth above all else.

Houston Craigslist cars is a rapidly growing trend for on-line used cars shopping. I will start by briefly introducing Craigslist to those unfamiliar with it, then will focus on Houston Craigslist cars.

Craigslist, a local community for classifieds and forums that targeted started in early 1995, and 8 years later became the 7th most visited website on the world wide web. It basically follows the concept of the classifieds section in your local newspapers. The listings are posted by product sellers, and service providers, then browsed by those interested in the products or services. Some think of it a virtual swap meet or flee market.

An advantage that puts the website over traditional methods, and other virtual shopping centers is that as of July 2007 the listings are free, therefore the seller doesn’t have to raise the price to compensate for the listing cost, and that you can also use it to try and sell, or trade your own car for free. I have personally listed cars for sale on craiglist, and have also bought cars, car parts, and even show tickets. However, I was very caution, because there were no guarantees what so ever, and the seller had nothing to worry about such as a rating or a craiglist reputation. The seller can write anything about the car, and if the buyers is not willing to do their homework and research about this specific car, once a bill of sale is made, and and AS IS form is signed the seller is not liable for anything, especially that they can claim the description was to the best of their knowledge.

I have personally contacted sellers and inquired about their cars, pretending not to know much about the car, and as you would expect, some immoral dealers, or private sellers to advantage of it, and tried as much as possible to hide information until their faced with it. I have decided to dedicate a series of articles to educate the car shoppers about Houston Craigslist cars. I will include the scams to watch out for, how to research the history of the car listed, and the different tricks the car dealers are using to take advantage of the search mechanism. Visit the section I dedicated my website you are interested in obtaining more information about houston craigslist cars

The very first and most obvious thing you should look for when attempting to choose used Japanese cars to buy is its ability to still function. If the car runs, then the first hurdle is overcome. But then you have to check whether it still runs well, or whether it will run for awhile then die on you halfway down the block. To check about the functionality of your Japanese used cars, you either have to have an engineering or automotive background, or find a friend or acquaintance that does. Barring those possibilities, you may have to hire someone who is really knowledgeable about the inner workings of any Japanese used car for sale that you are eyeing to buy.

The second factor that will influence your decision to buy your ideal used Japanese cars is its appearance. Obviously, a rusty and dented external housing on your choice of Japanese used cars means they will command a lower price than Japanese used cars of the same model and manufacturer which are in pristine condition. Even if you are buying used Japanese cars to cannibalize, you would still prefer used Japanese cars which are in relatively good condition than those which have a lot of damage to them – relatively being used loosely here because equally obviously all used Japanese cars are second-hand goods which been discarded by their previous owners for one reason or another.

That leads us to a third factor behind buying used Japanese cars – safety. You should think about why you are buying used Japanese cars in the first place: are you buying them to collect for your family, hoping someone will appreciate their potential value and will spend on their upgrade and renovation? Are you buying the used Japanese cars as potential sources of parts for Japanese cars that are already in your collection at home? Will you be using your used Japanese cars as viable transportation to and from work or will they be housed somewhere (maybe in your personal warehouse) to meet some future need? Are you hoping that if you upgrade and renovate your used Japanese cars that you can eventually find financial profit from selling them to other car aficionados? Safety is a big concern if you want to use your used Japanese cars to drive in yourself. In the world of machines and manufacturers, there is such a concept as planned obsolescence which is regularly practiced. This simply means manufacturers do not create their machines (in this case cars) to last forever. They are meant to be used for an estimated amount of time then to be discarded in favor of future models from the same manufacturer. This not only helps resolve safety issues but guarantees future business for the car company and its employees. It is a good policy if it means that the used cars will not be used anymore by anyone – but in the case of used Japanese cars, we know that there are people who do intend to keep using them. And that is where risks come in.

So if you have a pretty good life insurance policy, it may seem wise to use your used Japanese cars for regular transportation. Otherwise, it may be better to simply keep them in a garage or warehouse – to fiddle around with or just simply admire.

Looking to buy a hybrid car? Are you scouring the web for which are the best hybrid cars, what are the facts about hybrid cars, and perhaps even what are hybrid cars for sale on eBay?

Just hold on a moment and slow down. Of course, a hybrid car is a popular choice right now. And you’re thinking that getting a hybrid vehicle is all about doing your bit about global warming and save money on fuel. It’s a feel-good, win-win situation isn’t it?

But is this true and is that all there is to it? Well, let’s just say that there are at least seven good reasons why you should not buy a hybrid car.

Do you need a hybrid car?
Have you thought about your purpose of using a car at all? Who, and how many passengers will be using the car? Driving in the city or in the country? Perhaps public transport, a bicycle or an electric scooter could fit your needs just as well.

Just because we’re all used to the comfort of our air-conditioned boxes on wheels does not necessarily mean we need to continue the habit, does it? You don’t really need a car, hybrid or other? Then the best thing you can do for the environment, and for your pocket, is not to buy one.

Would your hybrid hold its value?
OK, so you know that hybrid car prices are above average but are inevitably coming down with a rapidly increasing demand. You also know that any tax incentives that may apply now may not continue forever. What does that mean? It means that you will not be able to sell your car at a premium price later, even though resale value is good now. So if you buy a hybrid because you think it will hold its value, don’t count on that being true in five year’s time.

Getting your money back by saving on fuel?
This depends on your mileage and the model hybrid. Even in the best scenarios you will need five years before you recoup your purchase price. Don’t buy a hybrid for economic reasons only.

What are your alternatives?
Hybrid car technology is only one means of saving the environment and your money. Cars that drive on liquid petroleum gas (LPG) or natural liquid gas (NLG) do this too. Modern diesel vehicles run much cleaner than older models and biodiesel fuel is emerging rapidly as an alternative, not to mention ethanol blends.

So, if you cannot justify buying a hybrid car compared to what’s locally available to you in alternative fuels, don’t buy one.

Mechanical assistance?
Many mechanics are not yet trained in maintaining a hybrid vehicle. Could you get yours repaired and maintained locally?

Hybrids ain’t hybrids
The hybrid car range includes SUVs. How many people really need one? Buying a hybrid to roll over the off-road environment seems a little incongruous. Don’t buy one unless you absolutely cannot do without it for good reasons.

Saving the environment?
You are probably like most people who buy a hybrid car because they want to do their bit about global warming. Right? Good for you. Hybrid cars are part of the future. But…

You cannot buy a sustainable world. Selling cars, whatever fuel they use, involves vast quantities of energy and emissions in mining metals, transportation, production and distribution. Whereas it is better to drive a hybrid car than a gasoline-driven one, don’t expect to save the planet from global warming just by doing that.

It’s a change in thinking that’s needed, from seeing ourselves as independent consumers, to interdependent people who live in relationship to others and our environments. Once you and I know that we’ll act more wisely in choosing Earth-friendly technologies that we really need.

Cannot afford to buy a hybrid? So what? Reach out to someone else who needs you today or volunteer in your local environment protection group. That’s really putting your foot down in making a difference!

Unfortunately, people are not selling their cars and I continue to wait for updates, yet there are none. My father says there will be more during March-May due to Taxes. I'm just so tired of waiting. Any advices? Around what month do you think there would be more cars for sale?
